Homeschool Days at 601 Studios: Where Creativity Meets Community

At 601 Studios in Jackson, Mississippi, Homeschool Days offers homeschooled students an enriching opportunity to grow their musical and artistic talents while fostering meaningful connections. Since its launch in 2021, this uniquely designed arts enrichment program has invited homeschool families into a world of creativity, curated instruction, and inspiring social engagement.

A Weekly Creative Sanctuary

Homeschool students find friendship and community at Homeschool Days.

Meeting once a week for 15 weeks each term, Homeschool Days conveniently aligns with both the Fall Term (starting the third week of August with a Thanksgiving break) and the Spring Term (beginning the fourth week of January with Spring Break in March). Each session runs from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays, providing a structured, yet flexible weekly cadence designed for consistency and growth.

Cultivating Artistic Passion

Every student selects a primary instrument or artistic focus such as piano, guitar, voice, acting, or ukulele. They receive group lessons tailored to that interest, along with rotating enrichment classes like visual arts, general music (for ages 5–8), and more. For families who want even more personalized learning, discounted private lessons are available exclusively for homeschool students. This blended model encourages well-rounded exploration while also building core skills in each child’s area of interest.

Celebrating Growth and Achievement

Each term wraps up with an end-of-term recital, giving students a chance to showcase what they’ve learned in a low-pressure, supportive environment. These performances help students build confidence and a sense of accomplishment while giving families a chance to celebrate their growth.

Academic Recognition for Homeschoolers

One of the standout benefits of Homeschool Days is the academic recognition. Families can receive an official letterhead transcript that makes it simple to claim fine arts credit. Mississippi College has already recognized this coursework for homeschool students submitting transcripts for college admission, giving added value and credibility to the experience.

A Welcoming and Supportive Community

At the heart of Homeschool Days are warm, passionate teachers and a studio environment built to inspire. Small group instruction means every student gets meaningful attention while also benefiting from a collaborative setting. Parents often say they'd enroll their children in Homeschool Days just for the friendships; the lasting connections are that meaningful.

Rooted in Personal Experience

For Mitchell McGinnis, founder and director of 601 Studios, Homeschool Days is more than just a program. It’s personal. Mitchell was homeschooled for grades 4 and 5, and has often reflected on how impactful a program like this would have been during those years.

“When I started dreaming up 601 Studios, I knew Homeschool Days had to be part of it,” Mitchell says. “As a homeschooled kid, I would’ve loved to have access to something like this. A place to explore the arts, connect with other kids, and learn in a setting that felt inspiring and supportive.”

That personal connection shines through in every detail, from the hands-on teaching to the welcoming atmosphere that defines 601 Studios.

Affordable, All-Inclusive Pricing

We know that many homeschool families are teaching multiple children, and we’ve intentionally priced this program to be family-friendly. In fact, most families find that Homeschool Days is significantly more affordable than enrolling in weekly private lessons alone.

  • $765 for the first student

  • $645 for the second

  • $525 for each additional child

This includes all group lessons, materials, art supplies, and performances. A non-refundable $150 deposit holds your family’s spot, and the remaining balance is split into three easy monthly payments. Plus, if your family participates in two consecutive terms, you’ll receive a 10% discount on tuition.

By comparison, 15 weeks of private music lessons (typically just 30 minutes each week) can easily cost $450 to $600 or more per student. Homeschool Days gives your child 3.5 hours of rich, engaging instruction each week, combining music, art, and performance for just a bit more, making it a far more cost-effective and enriching option.
